THE THESPIANS
The debt which the professional theatre owes to those enthusiastic groups of amateurs all over the world which keep the drama alive will, in the nature of things, never be paid. It is, however, encouraging to see it recognized from time tb time by such gestures as that of Charles .Morgan, the famous novelist, who has granted the Thespians a special release of the performing rights of his brilliant first play “The Flashing Stream," which will be presented for a three-night Wellington season starting next Saturday in the Town Hall Concert Chamber. An unqualified success in London, “The Flashing Stream” will undoubtedly have an equal appeal for local audiences. Written with real feeling, it contains passages of sparkling wit, exciting action and of very great beauty. “The Flashing Stream” will be the twentieth production of the Thespians, and every effort is'being made to see that it reaches the highest possible standard. The production is under the direction of Myles F. E. Wright, assisted by Russell Reid as stage manager. Jack McLeod as assistant stage manager, Dickie Lucas and Isabel Burton as property mistresses, Susje Painter as wardrobe mistress, and Doris Mildenhall as the prompter.
