Tribute From New Zealand B.M.A. President By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, July 30. Dr. William James Mayo, one of the founders of the famous Mayo Clinic for Surgery in Rochester, Minnesota, U.S.A., who died on Friday, was recognized as a leading figure in the world of surgery. Mr. P. Stanley Foster, president of the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association, has received a cable message from Dr. Mayo’s son-in-law advising him of the death, and saying the funeral would be held today. Tonight Mr. Foster expressed the highest praise and admiration of the work of the brothers, William aud Charles Mayo, in building up the Mayo Clinic, to which they gave £300,000, Mr. Foster visited the clinic in 1923, .1928, and 1934.
