De Llano LONDON, July 27. General Franco is reported to be seriously embarrassed by the rival doings of his pro-Nazi and antiNazi followers, though the position has eased temporarily with the arrest of General de Llano, according to a message from Hendaye. The correspondent of the Associated Press of America in Gibraltar, states that all Andalusian towns have protested to General Franco against the dismissal of General de Llano. An extensive Cabinet reshuffle is being prepared, with the pro-Axis member Senor Suner retaining the key Ministry of the Interior. High army official are expected to be given other Ministries.
General Franco’s hesitancy as to where to turn for economic help is resulting in discontent among the population. UnemployiSent is growing because of the scarcity of raw materials. Some thousands of Republican soldiers are still at liberty in the Asturias, causing him to keep large forces in ail towns throughout the area. Statistics smuggled from Spain reveal that military tribunals in Catalonia in the first week in May tried 347 alleged Republican sympathisers, of whom 266 were sentenced to death and 59 jailed for 30 years, and 20 to fifteen years’ imprisonment.
