COMB-OUT OF I.R.A. SUSPECTS
Arrest Follows King’s Cross Explosion
LONDON, July 27. The police are continuing a nationwide comb-out of I.R.A. suspects. They are guarding Hampton Court as a result of the receipt of a postcard inscribed: “Clear out of Hampton Court, We don’t want to kill women. —I.R.A.” It may be a hoax, but no risks are being taken. A man with a slouch who is believed to have deposited a suitcase at King’s Cross station ten minutes before yesterday’s tragic bomb explosion, and for whom the metropolis was combed all night, was traced to North London and taken to a police station. Seventy-five sticks of gelignite were found on an electric pylon in DownHolland, Lancashire, two hours before it was due to be ignited by a clockwork mechanism.

Prime Minister’s Comment
(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, July 27. The Prime Minister, in a statement in the House of Commons on the explosions at King’s Cross and Victoria Stations and in Liverpool, said that no effort would be spared to bring to justice those who were guilty of these criminal and cowardly attacks. He was sure the House would join with him in expressing its deepest s-yrn pathy with those who had suffered in these and other outrages, and with their families. Mr. Chamberlain added that he was informed that the Prevention of Violence Bill would pass through all stages in the House of Lords tomorrow, and in view of the importance of the earliest possible passage of the measure he proposed to ask the House to agree to the suspension of the 4 o’clock rule tomorrow as a precautionary measure, so that there might be time for considera tion of any amendments by the House of Lords, and that the Bill might then be ready for the Royal Assent,.
