OLD AGE PENSIONS
British Inquiry In View Of Defence Burden LONDON, July 27. The House of Commons, after a stormy debate, approved by 357 votes to 164 the Government’s decision to investigate without delay the higher old-age pensions. The Prime Minister, Mr. Chamberlain pointed out that the House of Commons had not yet fully realized the burden of the defence programme and the Government would not light-heartedly add to the load.
