A decision to call the attention of the Government and the Surveyor General to the .alienation of a heritage of the people, sea beaches, was made by the New Zealand Counties' Association at its biennial conference in Wellington yesterday. The conference decided to ask the Government to amend the law so that a area of land at least one chain wide from high-water mark be conserved in all future sub-division of seaside lands, in addition to the statutory 5 per cent, dedication for reserve purposes.
