Last Day Of Racing OUTSTANDING YEAR (By The Watcher.) Today is the last racing day of the 1938-39 racing season, and the curtain will be rung down by the MauaWatu Hunt Club’s meeting at Awapuni and the Christchurch Hunt Club's fixture at Riecarton. At both meetings, horses with engagements at the Grand National meeting will .compete, though the proportion of such horses is naturally much larger at Riccarton than at Awapuni. The weather appears to have taken a turn for the better, so the season, which has in many respects been one of the outstanding years in the history of New Zealand turf should close on a successful note,
