DE LUXE THEATRE

* “Bulldog Drummond’s Secret Police” And “Boy Trouble” “Bulldog Drummond's Secret Police," which screens at the De Luxe Theatre, is not the best of the “Bulldog" series, though it is fair enough entertainment. John Howard takes I lie part of "Bulldog" Drummond and Henther Angel thut of his fiancee. ) The day before "Bulldog’s” wedding is to take place he is visited by a professor (Forrester Harvey) who discloses that in the course of research he has discovered that treasure had been hidden in a secret passage under “Bulldog's” house by one of "Bulldog’s” ancestors. Drummond is persuaded by Heather Angel to let sleeping dogs lie, but that night Drummond is attacked, and tbe book with the secret plans in it is stolen. The professor is killed; that is tbe last straw so far as Drummond is concerned, and he goes into action.

His new butler is discovered to lie an escaped criminal who knows of the professor’s discovery. He kijnaps Heather Angel and takes her with’ him through the secret tunnel. Things then become really interesting for in the eerie underground chamber takes place the final battle of wits and guns in which the villain is killed.

"Boy Trouble," the companion film, shows Charles Ruggles as the ex-asperated and unwilling foster-parent of two boys, one of them a very tough nut who involves Charles in something pretty close to complete ruin before things get disentangled. Ruggles as Homer Fitch, Mary Boland as his wife, and Douald O'Connor and Billy Lee as the youngsters make a fair enough comedy team. It is a not very powerful blend of comedy aud sentiment, capably done.
