40 YEARS’ SERVICE TO DAIRY COMPANY
Presentation To Mr. A. S. Broadbelt Dominion Special Service LEVIN, July 28. Fitting recognition of 40 years’ association with the Levin Co-operative Dairy Company was made when shareholders presented Mr. and Mrs. Broadbelt with a silver tea and coffee service and a Cheque. Mr. Broad’belt has been a director of the company since 1899, with 23 years as chairman of directors to his credit.
The principal speaker was Mr. A. J. Gimblett, who traced the growth of the company from its formation In 1899, when the initial output was 52 i tons annually, to the present production of 1698 tons annually. He paid a tribute to the part played by Mr. Broadbelt in the development of tbe company and to the active interest he had taken in the industry generally. The position the company occupied in New Zealand was largely the result of the work of Mr. Broadbelt, he said. Mr. Gimblett enumerated the many organizations which had received Mr, Broadbelt’s assistance, and added that such service would not have been possible without the support given by Mrs. Broadbelt. ' Mr. T. G. Vincent spoke of Mr. Broadbelt’s association with the Dominion Producers’ Agency, and Mr.. F. M. Young spoke on behalf of the Linton suppliers of the company. Mr. W. Barber spoke on behalf of the Shannon Dairy Company, and Mr. M. F. Miles on behalf of the Kuku-Manakau Dairy Company.
On behalf of the staff and a former director, Mr. S. Rolston, jttn., the secretary, Mr. J. M. Parsons, presented Mr. and Mrs. Broadbelt with a travelling rug and trunk. . . Mr. Broadbelt said his association with the industry had been a pleasurable one and he would continue to serve the industry in the future. He expressed thanks for the gifts which, be and Mrs. Broadbelt had received.
