FOUND WEATHER TOO CHILLY
Visitor From England ONLY A FEW HOURS SPENT IN DOMINION A distinguished visitor who has come half way round the world to see New Zealand will leave again at daybreak today after only a few hours in the Dominion. He explained that he found this part of the world too cold. The traveller, Professor A. R. Richardson, D. 5.0., B.Sc., A.R.C.S., Fellow of University College, London, and holder of the Chair of Mathematics at the University of Wales, Swansea, arrived at .Wellington yesterday afternoon by the Rangitata from London. He was accompanied by his wife. They are booked to sail again by the Rangitiki; leaving Wellington at daybreak this morning on the return Home. Professor Richardson said that he had come to New Zealand on a health trip, intending to make the round trip with the vessel, and spend about three weeks in the Dominion. However, he had found recent weather in this part of the world so cold that he had now made arrangements to return by the Rangitiki. He felt it was a shame to have to come so far for so brief a stay here, but health reasons left him no choice. He had been badly Wounded in the Great War, and could not face cold. During the war the professor served as a captain on General's Robb's staff, and as colonel of the 2nd London Regiment on the Western Front. He was reticent concerning the incidents for which he was decorated. He served also in the Boer War.
