BREAKING AND ENTERING PUNISHED

"Crimes of this kind in the North iluckland district have been too frequent of late and too often committed by members of the Maori race,” said Mr. Justice Fair in the Supreme Court today when sentencing a young Maori. Walter Anania, who was charged with breaking and entering a store at Mitiniiti and stealing a safe and contents. The judge remarked It appeared from the evidence that others were concerned who had not. been, found. It had to be made clear that crimes of this kind would meet with adequate punishment. However, it was regrettable that in this cape part of the hardship would full on the unfortunate wife and children. The prisoner was sentenced to two years’ reformative detention.
