Parliamentary Farewell TOUR OF ENGLAND A Parliamentary farewell was tendered to members of the New Zealand Rugby League football team at a morning tea at Parliament Buildings jesterday. The team later embarked on the Rangitiki, which will sail for England this morning. Good wishes were extended to the Kiwis by the Deputy-Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, who expressed the hope that thej’ would have a successful tour. Other Parliamentarians present included: The Minister of Public Works, Mr. Semple; the Minister of Housing. Mr. Armstrong; the Minister of . Internal Affairs, Mr. Parry; the Minister of Defence, Mr. Jones; the Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Housing, Mr Lee. who is president of the Auckland Rugby League; the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Hamilton; Sir Apirana Ngata. . . Best wishes were also extended to the team by Mr. Parry, Mr. Hamilton, and Sir Apirana Ngata. The co-managers of the team, Messrs. J. A. Redwood and R. Doble, and the captain, R. King, responded. McInnarney (Auckland), T. Chase (Auckland), J. Campbell (Canterbury), A. Kay (Auckland), W. Tittleton (Auckland), V. Scott (Auckland); fiveeighths, R. Banham (Auckland), D. Solomon (Auckland); half-backs, L. Brown (Canterbury), R. Sterling (Auckland) ; forwards, Rex King (Canterbury), captain; G. Bellaney (Canterbury), J. Clark (Canterbury), G. Beadle (South Auckland), G. Orman (West Coast), H. Milliken (Auckland), P. Ririnui (Auckland), H. Mataira (Auckland), G. Mitchell (Auckland), A. Leatherbarrow (Auckland). J. Cootes (Wellington), R. Jones (Auckland). The English itinerary includes 28 matches, including three Test matches. The first match will be played at St. Helens on September 2, and the English tour will conclude on December 16 ■ with the third Test against England. The New Zealand team will then proceed to France, where six or seven matches will be played.
