ARAB KIDNAPPERS
Missionary Released JERUSALEM, July 25. The American missionary, Mr. Gerald Goldmer, who was kidnapped by a gang of Arabs last week, has been released. He arrived here in an exhausted condition. A Bedouin had set out with an un disclosed sum iu the hope of ransoming the missionary. Mr. Goldmer’s father, tlie Rev. Jacob Goldmer, obtained £.lOOO from a Cleveland congregation aud offered to remit it to the kidnappers on receipt of his son’s passport and camera. Troops and police arrested 138 Arabs in the course of an extensive clean-up at Haifa and Aera A British private was killed and four others wounded in an engagement with bandits. Ou the occasion of LieutenantGeneral Haining relinquishing the command of the British forces iu Palestine and Transjordan, the Army Council dispatched to him a messageexpressing its appreciation of the manner in which he and the forces under his command have handled it difficult situation.
