Australians’ Matches (Received July 26, 5.40 p.tu.i VANCOUVER, July 25. Iu the men’s singles in the third round of the Western Canada championships Bromwich (Australia) beat Russell Kenington (Vancouver), 6-3. 6-0, and Hopman (Australia) beat Larry Hall (Vancouver), 6-0, 6-2. In the mixed doubles Tom Brown and Helen Gourlay (Vancouver) beat Hopman and Mrs. Mary Hnggart (Vancouver), 6-3, 3-6, 9-7, and Bromwich and Miss Eleanor Young, the Canadian national champion, beat Oscar Reels and Jean Eckhart (Vancouver), 6-0. 6-1. Tomorrow is an off day, and the Australians will be the guests of the Vancouver Racing Association. Two of the races are named the Harry Hopman Handicap and the Jack Bromwich Feature. ■ QUIST CAUTIOUS Seabright Tournament (Received July 26, 7.6 p.m.) NEW YORK. July 25. At the Seabright tournament Crawford beat Umstaedter, 6-2, 6-2, and Quist and Crawford beat Fisbacb and Bellis, 6-2, 6-3. Crawford meets Grant, who claims he has never lost a match to an Australian, tomorrow. Parker. Sabin Slid Riggs also won their matches today. Quist, the purpose of whose abstention from the singles is now an open secret, that is to avoid giving the American Davis Cup selectors an opportunity of gauging hi s play against new men such as Cooke and McNeill, who won the French championship, from whom some of the American Davis Cup players will be chosen, has been improving the opportunity of closely studying the style and form of thosei gentlemen. GERMAN TEAM FOR ZONE FINAL BERLIN. July 25. The German team which is to meet Yugoslavia in the final of the European, zone in the Davis Cup competition ou July 27. 28 and 29 is as follows: H.
