POLISH TROOPS ON BORDER
Ready To Answer Nazi Provocation WARSAW, July 25. It is reported that about 10,000 Bolish troops have been sent to the eastern border of Danzig, ready for instant action if the Nazis are provocative. POLISH DEFENCE Progress Of Credit Talks (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, July 25. In the House of Commons, the Chan-, cellar of the Exchequer, Sir John Simon, made the following statement regarding the financial negotiations which have been proceeding with the Polish delegation : — "The discussion covered two separate matters. The first was in connexion with export credits. Britain has offered to guarantee export credits up to an amount of £8,000,060 in order to facilitate the purchase in Britain by Poland of material necessary for its defence. The detailed arrangements which ..-ill have to be made are now being adjusted between the Polish financial delegation and the Government De;.a rtineii t concerned. “Discussions have also been proceeding on the possibility of a cash loan to Poland by Britain and France, acting jointly. I Hgret it has not been found possible to reach an agreement as to the conditions on which such a loan might be made available in time for the necessary legislation to be passed before the House rises.” Sir John Simon added that the export credits would be to assist purchases of material in the United Kingdom, but that as regards the other question, France and Britain were entirely at one in. being willing to assist Poland in making necessary purchases of munitions from other countries GERMAN SUBMARINES Large-Scale Exercises In Baltic Sea BERLIN, July 25. It is disclosed that -General-Admiral Raeder, Commander-In-Chief of the Navy, ha s been attending large-scale submarine exercises in the Baltic. The exercises Included practically all the first-line formations, and they were completed by a mass diving demonstration by live flotillas. ARMY MANOEUVRES BERLIN. July 25. Reservists have been called up for army manoeuvres) which are to begin in August, extending from northern Bav aria, the Sudetenland, Bohemia, Mora via, Silesia and along the Polish frontier.
