INCREASE IN CARGO HANDLED
Port Of Wellington The chairman. Mr. M. A. Eliott, reported to last night’s meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board that the shipping and cargo statistics for June showed increases in the tonnage of trading vessels arriving and the tonnage of cargo bundled, when compared with June, 1938 The shipping arrivals were 326.021 net tons, ns against 277.496 tons, an increase of 48.525 tons. The cargo hnndkd was 187.830 tons, an increase of 29.217 tons. Increases were shown in general cargo imports from British and foreigns ports. 7558 tons, and coastal and Australian ports. 6590 tons; trade of oils in hulk. 73,88 tons; timber imports, 1.341.226 suner feet ; and wool and hemp shipments, 15.032 bales Blitter and meat shipments si owed a decrease of 1167 tons.
