MUSICALE ARRANGED BY FREE AMBULANCE
Music lovers enjoyed a delightful and varied programme at the musicale given by the ladies’ auxiliary of the Wellington Free Ambulance last night. An attractive programme had been arranged by Mrs. J. I. Goldsmith, the committee efficiently supervising other matters.. The social hall, with its tall white pillars, presented a scene of warmth and colour, crystal vases of iceland poppies and variegated eleagnus being placed on green-covered tables about the room, in which gas fires gave out a welcome heat. An impromptu stage at one end of the room was covered with a thick carpet and flanked by tubs of greenery and at the other end long supper tobies set with green linen covers and flowers were placed for the homemade supper, which concluded the evening’s entertainm: nt. Mrs. E. J. Hocking, a vice-president, in a gown and coatee of pastel-tinted silver lame, received the guests, assisted by Mrs. Goldsmith, wearing black windswept failee taffeta and brocaded jacket. The committee who helped with arrangements included Mesdames W. H. Gledhill, A. R. Coad, M. Searle, C. G. Aston, F. Roffe, V. Thompson, E. P. Norman, J. I. Goldsmith and Miss I. L. Bull. Mrs. Aston, a life member of the auxiliary, proposed a vote of thanks to the performers, and Mrs. A. B. Gibbons, also a life member, was present.
The programme was as follows: — Mrs. T. Fouhy, piano solos; Mrs. P. JDoogan, songs; Miss Idtr Lockwood, violin solos; Signor Cesaronl, songs; Mr. Robert Cheyne, recitations; Mrs. Wiltshire songs; Mr, J. Murphy and Signor Cesaioni, duet; Miss Gieseking, piano solos. The accompaniments were played by Mrs. Fouhy and Miss Gieseking.
