Visiting Scotsman Cuts Striking Figure Dominion Special Service. AUCKLAND, February 3. Wearing a Balmoral cap and a kilt of the Argyll and .Sutherland tartan, Mr. Philip Dyson, a .Scotsman resident in London, cut a sti iking figuie *is he stepped from the cruise ship oronsay on its arrival at Auckland today. Mr Dyson said he had never worn any other costume but that of his native land and was oblivious to the curious attention be attracted from peoples outside Scotland and England, where it was not uncommon to see men wearing the kilt. “There is one thing I am always sure of when I wear my kilt,” said Mr. Dyson. “I am never short of friends. There are Scotsmen everywhere and at times it seems as though every second person is one. Moreover, I soon make their acquaintance, as they make themselves known to-me on seeing my dress.”
Mr. Dyson graduated from Oxford University and one of his three sons is an Oxford blue. Mr. Dyson was citizen auditor for the city of Sheffield up to the time of his retirement a few years ago.
