RICCARTON NOTES Silver Sight For Steeplechasing Dominion Special Service. CHRISTCHURCH, February 3. A yearling colt by Lord Quex from Seamstress bought at the Trentham sales last month by Miss P. Hartland, Christchurch, for 200 guineas for Mr. F. R. Meehan, Timaru, is being handled by F. Christmas, who will train him for his new owner. It is not intended to race the colt till late in the new season, and after being broken in he will probably be put aside for a period.

Wardress has been treated to a spell following a Strenuous campaign over the holiday season, and will make her appearance at the Banks Peninsula meeting next month. Silver Sight is once again a regular track attendant. As he had reached as a hurdler a stage when he was being asked to carry heavy burdens it was decided a few months back to retire him from racing. He did so well in the paddock, however, and was thoroughly sound in wind and limb that his owners thought fit to put him into training again with a view to confining his future energies to steeplechasing. Silver Sight has always been a proficient jumper and will be a decided acquisition to the ranks of crosscountry horses.

Ascot Gold Cup. 'Among the 31 entries for the Ascot Gold Cup are Bois Roussel, Scottish Union, Rockifel, and Ohulmleigh, who has not raced 1 since his 'St. Leger win last year. Mr. Peter Beatty has.entered Foxlove II and another French horse, Nago, as well as Bois Roussel, and Mr. James V. Rank, owner of .Scottish Union) has nominated. Michoumy. 'Sir Abe Bailey has made two sealed entries in addition to Valerian. Lord Harewood in another owner with a scaled entry.
