North Island Tournament SOME SURPRISE RESULTS The surprise of last night’s play in the North Island table tennis championships at Petone was the defeat of the New Zealand representative, E. Boniface (Wellington), by S. Henderson (Hutt Valley), in the open singles semi-final, by 21-14, 19-21, 21-14. L. Smith (Wellington) also beat Paton (Auckland), the South Island and Auckland champion, 21-17, 21-14. Swift, the defender of the North Island title, was beaten by the B grade Onslow player, Baker (Wellington), 19-21, 21-12, 21-17. Last night’s results were:— Men’s Open Singles. Quarter-finals: L.
