MOTOR-CYCLIST FINED
Passed Stopped Vehicle At Pedestrian Crossing By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, March 23. “If this were an older man I would fine him in such a way that would call the attention of the public to the serious nature of the offence," said Mr. C. R. Orr Walker, S.M., when a young motorcyclist, Lloyd Taylor, was charged in the Magistrates’ Court with overtaking traffic on the wrong side and also with passing a stopped vehicle at a pedestrian crossing. A traffic inspector said that while motoring lie saw two blind men being guided across an authorised traffic crossing near the Institute for the Blind. A car driven by the Auckland magistrate, Mr. W. R. McKean, had stopped. Taylor, who had a pillion rider, passed Mr. McKean’s stationary car on the wrong side. Referring to the second charge, Mr. Orr Walker said that no one could imagine a more dangerous action. He fined Taylor £1 with 10/- costs on the first charge and £5 with similar costs on the second charge.
