Rugby, December 16. The Labour Party’s censure motion on the Government's handling of the problems connected with the special areas was debated in the House of Commons. The Minister of Labour, Mr. Ernest Brown, in his reply, said that there had been a great improvement in these areas since the Special Areas Act had been in operation. After detailing the improvement in the conditions in the special areas fie said that in November, 1934, the total registered unemployed in the special areas was 440,931, but on October 18 last it was 265,952. Compared with a year ago there was in July an increase in the numbers at work of 109,000.
