Valuable Land
Many years ago military volunteers, after a certain number of years’ service, used to receive a grant of a tract of land, about CO acres. One man received his land at Murdering Beach, situated not very far from Dunedin, a scene of conflict between two Maori tribes. It proved a very profitable acquisition, as from time to time he dug up many valuable relics of the long past fight. The articles found included various kinds of weapons battle axes and greenstone mere, and many others too numerous to mention, .but which found a ready sale among collectors.
