A PPLICATIONS (to be made on p.S.C. Form 17A, obtainable at principal Post Offices) will be received up till NOON on the 24th December, 1937, for the following vacancies in connection with the Country Libraries Service:— (a) ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN (male). Salary £275/300 p.a„ according to qualifications and experience. Applicants should be expert cataloguers and should submit evidence of a thorough knowledge of library routine and problems of library organisation and administration. Particulars of education and experience should be furnished. (b) FIELD LIBRARIANS (2), (male). Salary up to £250 p.a. according to qualifications and experience (with commuted travelling allowance to 10/per day). Applicants should have a thorough general knowledge of library technique, a good education, and should be able to drive a car well. The vacancies arise in connection with a decision to give assistance to country libraries by loan services ol books and practical help in library management. Preference will be given to University graduates who satisfy the above requirements, and who have practical experience and understanding of rural conditions. (c) LIBRARY ASSISTANT (female). Salary up to £2OO p.a. according to qualifications and experience. Applicants should have a thorough knowledge of accepted order and book selection routines, and practical experience of standard processes of classification and cataloguing. 'l'he Associateship of the Library Association will be considered a recommendation. Full particulars of education and experience should be furnished. (d) JUNIOR LIBRARY ASSISTANT (female). Salary £BO/100 p.a. according to qualifications and experience. Preference will be given to applicants with a knowledge of library Tontine, and typing ability will be a recommendation. Matriculation or educational qualification of no less a standard will be required. Full particulars of education and practical library experience should be given.
