MINISTERIAL. The Hon. H. T, Armstrong, Minister of Labour, left Wellington for the South Island by the inter-island express steamer last night. Viscount Coke and his daughter, the Hon. Mary Coke, are expected to arrive in New Zealand this month and will be the guests of the GovernorGeneral, Viscount Galway, and Lady Galway at Auckland. Viscount Coke’s grandfather was raised to the peerage in recognition of his work for the agricultural industry in Great Britain. The family has been closely identified with the Scots Guards. The Viscount accompanied the Guards to France during the Great War, and now his son, the Hon. Thomas Coke, holds a commission in the regiment and is an equerry to the King. Mr. J. S. Barton arrived at Wellington from Auckland yesterday. Mr. E. G. Martin, managing director for New Zealand of the Atlantic Union Oil Company, returned to Wellington from Auckland yesterday. Dr. W.’ Newlands and Dr. I’. S. Foster, of Christchurch, who attended a meeting of the Medical Council of New Zealand in Wellington, left last night for the south. Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Beckett, of the Garenganze Evangelical Mission, returned to Wellington this week by the Awatea, after being six and a half years in the Belgian Congo, and will spend a year’s leave here. Mr. R. A. Wilson, who has been appointed assistant manager of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Insurance Company, Ltd., aud who will leave Invercargill shortly, was presented with a suitease by the Invercargill Golf Club at the annual social function. Mr. Wilson won the championship of the club this year for the fifth time.
