CHAMPION HORSES

By Telegraph.—Press Association. Invercargill, December 15. The Southland Metropolitan A. and I’. Association summer show concluded today in brilliant weather. The horses judged to-day were considered to be among the best seen at South Island shows this season. A feature was the defeat of the royal champion stallion, A. Grant’s (Fairlie) Strathore Streamline by W. Chittoek’s (Gore-Waikaka Road) Netherton Mac. The following championships were awarded to-day:— Clydesdales.—,Stallion, W. Chittock (Gore-Waikaka Road) ; mare, Andrew Grant (Fairlie); reserve stallion, A. Grant; reserve mare, A. Grant. Thoroughbreds.—'Stallion, C. XV. Hughes (Lorneville) ; mare, Miss Pannetts (Clinton) ; reserve mare, Mrs. A. Oliver (Pine Bush). Harness Horses.—Christie Brothers (Tuturau) ; reserve, A. Cartwright (Waianiwa). iSaddle Horses. —'Miss K. Wood (Beaumont) ; reserve, Miss K. Wood. Trotters and Pacers. —Colt, J. H. Winter (Invercargill) ; filly, A. Leitch (Invercargill). Harness Ponies. —T. Carruthers (Middlemarch) ; reserve, A. Duncan (Invercargill). Saddle Cobs and Ponies. —Hackney and pony, T. Carruthers (Middlemarch) ; pony and cob, Miss M. Johnston (Waikaka Valley) ; reserve pony and cob. L. Morton (Lorneville.) ; jumper, A. V. Bacon (Waitahuna).
