BOXING

Gildo Beats Sharpe By Telegraph—Press Association. Blenheim, July 23. The Filipino, Young Gildo (9.7) took the second decision oyer Jackie Sharpe. Australia (9.10), since they have been in the Dominion, when he out-boxed him over 12 rounds to-night. Gildo, who was obviously favouring the right hand from tho start, kept his flashing left, doing overtime. This rapier punch, combined with smart footwork and brilliant infighting, in which lie was easily superior, countered the Australian’s solid two-handed onslaughts. Sharpe never let up, but Gildo was too wily.
