LARGE FUNERAL
Tributes to Late Mr. Donald McKenzie The high esteem in which the late Mr. Donald McKenzie, Lower Hutt, was held was evidenced by the large and representative attendance at his funeral yesterday afternoon. Sports organisations were stronglv represented. Many beautiful floral tributes bore further testimony of the late Mr. McKenzie’s popularity. A long cortege followed the hearse from the home nt Lower Hutt to the crematorium at Karori. The services at the house and at the graveside were conducted b<- the Rev. H. T. Peat. The chief mourners were Mr. Donald McKenzie, n son. Mr. T. Thorley, a brother-in-law, and Mr. F. Thorley, a nephew. Six Rugby referee; acted ns pnll-benr-ers They were: Messrs. J. Francis (president N.Z. Rugby Referees’ Association). F. Mullins (secretary, N.Z. association), A. Croucher (Nelson), J. B. Finlayson (Auckland), J. King (president, Wellington Rugby Referees’ Association), and B. Matthews (vice-presi dent. Wellington association). Among those who attended the funeral were: Messrs. G. Bradley (N.Z. GARDEN PARTY A garden party is to bo held in the grounds of St. Thomas's School, Nai Nai. on Saturday afternoon. It will be opened nt 3 o’clock by the Acting-Prime Minister. Hon. P. Fraser. Buses will leave the Central Hotel every quarter-hour hetween 2 and 3 p.m., returning at quarterhour intervals between 5 and 6 p.m
