By Telegraph—Press Association. Whakatane, March 31. Hira Mokai, a Maori, was this morning’ sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment for being illegally ou premises by night. He left a dunce at. Poroporo ou the night of March 21 and entered the house of Jacob Hawera. He entered a girl’s bedroom. When the girl said she would call her brother, Mokai left, but threatened to come back.

The justice of the peace considered Mokai a menace and that the only thing was to send him to prison.
