DEATH PREDICTED
Told by Spiritualist to Make Will Reference to a spiritualist prediction that a woman had only three weeks to live was made at the inquest at Kingston on Mrs. Miriam Hill, 66, of Wolverton Avenue, Kingston, whose funeral had been postponed. Her husband declared that there had been much bitterness in the family, and early in December he was “bolted out of his house” at New Malden. His wife and son Albert were going to Kingston. George Frederick Packman, of Rosebery Road, Norbiton, Mrs. Hill’s eldest son by her first marriage, stated that his mother and stepfather, both of whom were spiritualists, had meetings in a workshop in the back garden. "My half-brother, Albert, professed to be a medium, but he was not a medium,” he added. Two weeks ago he was told that his mother had stated that her son Albert had gone “under control” and bad informed her that she had three weeks to live, and that she was to make a will. Packman said that he did not take much notice, because his mother had no fear of death.
Dr. Eric Gardner, a pathologist, said that death was due to heart failure and that there were indications that Mrs. Hill had been addicted to an excessive amount of alcohol.
The jury returned a verdict accordingly, after a police witness had stated that nothing of a criminal nature about the death had been found.
