Mr. A. Cook Retire-' From Union Company Staff
A presentation from members of Hie staff of the Union Steam Ship Company at Wellington was made to Mr. Austin Cook last night. Mr. Cook has been witli the company since 18S9, when he joined as an office junior, and he has now retired after 48 years’ service. In making the presentation, .Mr. .1. N. Greenland, general manager, made reference to Mr. Cook’s excellent record of loyalty and ability, and expressed the wish that he might enjoy many years of well-earned leisure. Mr. Cook thanked the staff for their expression of goodwill, and related several amusing anecdotes of bis younger days in the company's service, lie was traffic manager in Dunedin for 12 years. He eamo to the Wellington Office in 1035 to the accounts department. where he served until his retirement.
