Territorial System

(I r rom “The Dominion,” June 34, 1911.) The Adjutant-General of the New Zealand Forces (Colonel A. W. Robin, C. 8.) has issued a statement showing the final returns of the registration of those liable for military training in New Zealand. The total of senior cadets and territorials is 57,372. The department is arranging the preliminaries to bring the laggards to book. [These were the first registrations under the territorial system.]

Mr. King O’Malley, Commonwealth Minister for Home Affaire, states that infuture all correspondence issuing from, his department will not bear (he customary formalities such as “I have the honour to be your obedient servant, ete.” These phrases Mr. O’Malley describes as “mere crawling flunky ism.” ■
