SEASON IN REVIEW
Eastbourne Bowling Club The hope that the membership during the coming year would reach the century is expressed in the annual report of the Eastbourne Bowling Club. The present membership is 84, the net total being six less than last year. The committee is concerned at the continued loss of members, particularly associates. Six rinks had taken part in the senior pennants, but the players had been unable to gain the high position they had held in the previous year. The junior pennants team had not had much success. In the champion of champions competition the club’s rink had reached the final. Club championships had been w-on as follow :—Champion singles: Mr. IL J. Loe. Champion pairs: Messrs. J. Battersby and J. R. Ceok (s.). Junior singles: Mr. E. Shortt. Wilford Cup: Messrs. J. F. Kockstrow and D. Hall (s.). Handicap singles: Mr. C. L. Bishop. Five rinks had paid a week-end visit to Masterton and Featherston for the annual game and two one-day rink tournaments had been held at Eastbourne, one of them attracting 18 entries and the other 12, Lyall Bay and Khandallah being the winners. Two rinks had also participated in the U.S.A, tournament, and Mr. D. N. Isaac’s rink had won its section.
The committee recommends the election of Mr. T. W. Pilcher, the treasurer, as a life member in recognition of his long service to the club.
