A TRIBUTE TO THE LATE MRS. E. DAWSON

This small tribute from a representative of a great host of. women in this province who have sincerely loved the late Mrs. E, Dawson is written in memory of a vital and stimulating personality. Possessing great intellectual gifts, her simplicity and sympathetic understanding attracted the love and admiration of all sections and classes with whom she came in contact In the hearts of very many women her memory will ever remain fresh and beautiful. The predominating thought is one of gratitude for the privilege of associating with one who, in the words of Goethe, “at the whirling loom of time unawed, worked the living mantle of God.” Her sunny sense of humour and her sparkling wit radiated infectious joyousness and her gallant spirit, resolutely facing the sunshine rather than the shadows, was as a shining light to all who associated with her. The music in her found expression in her work In fhe small choir of the Lower Hutt League of Mothers, and here her infectious en-

thusiasm and powers of interpretation were delightfully reflected in the artistic and muslcianly work of the singers. We honour the memory of one whose inspiring example will surely help others to challenge “the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune” with the same gallant smile, and through the widespread sense of irreparable loss there runs a heart-felt thankfulness for all she has meant to us. Simply and sincerely we can say: “It has been good for us to have known her.”

A very pleasant afternoon was held at the Pioneer Club recently, when members had an opportunity of entertaining their friends. Mrs. J. E. Ramsey was hostess, and had arranged a delightful programme of music. Those contributing songs were Mrs. P. J. Townley, Mrs. J. E. Ramsey and Miss Elgar Christie. Trios were given by Mesdames Townley, Ramsey and Miss Nora Gray, and piano solos by Miss Lois Ramsey. The accompaniments were played by Misses Vondersloot, Gray and Ramsey.

To get rid of warts, which are very disfiguring, apply castor oil every night for three weeks, when they will have entirely disappeared.
