ANNIVERSARY PARTY

Hard of Hearing League,

On Saturday last lip-reading students of the New Zealand League for the Hard of Hearing celebrated the firet anniversary of the inauguration of the classes m Wellington. Celebrations took the form of a party in the league’s classroom, where the students and a large number of normalhearing people enjoyed an evening of team games and competitions. Dancing items were given by little Misses Blair and Mason during the interval for supper. A decorated birthday cake was cut by Mrs. Irvine, the oldest student member present, and congratulatory telegrams were read. A short talk to the normal hearing people present, on the subject of helping the hard of hearing to live normally, was given by Miss Eggleton, teacher for the Wellington branch of the league. Air. Hutchison congratulated the league upon its success during ,thc first year and wished the students every happiness for the years to come. Hostesses for the/evening were members of the social committee, Airs. Nicholson (bon. secretary), Airs. Stock, Miss Smyth, Miss Scott and Miss Eyes.
