FREEZING CHARGES IN THE SOUTH
Farmers’ Union Protest By Telegraph—Press Association. Invercargill. May 29. Dissatisfaction both with the freezing charges of South Island works and the service given in many directions to producers was given as a reason for lhe following remits being placed on the agenda paper at the annual provincial conference of the Farmers’ Union to-day: (1) "That the Southland executive of the Farmers’ Union strongly protest against the meat works combination in tlie South Island and urgently requests the Minister of 'Agriculture to refer the whole matter to tlie Executive Commission of Agriculture for complete investigation; (2) tlr.s conference urges the Meat Board and the Government to investigate the matter of freezing charges in the South Island with a view to bringing about a reduction.” Both remits were carried.
