A Vickers Vildebeest bomber of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, flying from Hastings to Auckland, was damaged in a landing at the Taupara aerodrome at Taupo. The undercarriage and propeller were affected through the machine tipping on its nose after the landing run and the lower wing was crumpled. Flying Ofllcer A Lester, the pilot, and his mechanic were unhurb. Flying Officer C. E. Kay and Flight Sergeant A. Sorrell flew from Hobsonville Air Base to examine the machine and found that it will take three or four days to make good the damage. It is stated that the landing had to be made through trouble with the oil pressure.
