TASMAN CROSSING
Ketch Idle Hour Reaches Sydney THREE GALES EN ROUTE (Received March 19,10.35 p.ni.) Sydney, March 19. In the course of a world cruise the 32-foot American ketch Idle Hour arrived at Sydney to-day, the voyage from Auckland having occupied 22 days. Three gales were encountered in the early stages, one necessitating the ketch being hove-to for 36 hours. She ran before another under bare poles. Almost a week of calms and light airs followed, prolonging the voyage. All are well aboard. The Aucklander, Mr. Len Campbell, is adhering to his original intention of remaining in Australia. The other Aucklander; Mr. Ivan Palmer, is continuing the voyage. The craft is expected to remain at Sydney two or three weeks before proceeding northward to the Barrier Reef, Singapore and Suez.
