Opening- Moot of Year Thercwas a good attendance of law students when tlie Wellington Law Stud ents’ Society held its first moot for tho year recently. The action, which was beard before Mr. G. G. G. Watson, M.A., LL.B., was one in which Rufus (by his guardian ad litem), sued A for damages for injuries allegedly arising out of the negligence of A, Mr. D. A. Wilson, LL.B., and with him Mr. A. G, Horsley, appeared Cor plaintiff, and for the defence, Mr, B Sinclair-Lockhart, LL.B., with him Mr P. N. Venschaffelt. The court held that A had been negligent, but that Rufus was a trespasser, and therefore not entitled to damages. Judgment was accordingly entered for defendant.
Mr, Watson, after congratulating all counsel on the able manner in which they had handled the case, concluded the meeting with some very valuable advice to the student's on court practice in general.
