Major-General Sir Andrew Russell, Hastings, who is visiting- Wellington, will return to Hawke’s Bay to-day. He will leave Auckland by the Australia Star on April 8 for England, and will be absent from New Zealand for five or six months.

Bishop Brodie, the Roman Catholic Bishop of Christchurch, left Wellington last night for Auckland to meet the new apostolic delegate, Archbishop Panico, who will pass through on his way to Sydney. Bishop Brodie will also attend the opening of the extensions to the Mater Mlsericordiae Hospital, Auckland.

Rutledge, of the Fox Film Corporation, travelled north last night from Wellington. Dr.' T. F. Telford, medical officer of health, Christchurch, arrived at Wellington from the south yesterday morning. Mr. D. Lake, Sydney. Australian and New Zealand distribution manager for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Limited, is visiting the Dominion. Mr. A. W. Wynne, secretary and manager of the Australian Associated Press, accompanied by Mrs. Wynne, is visiting New Zealand, and is expected to arrive at Wellington on Friday. Mr. A. H. Gaze, manager for the British Phosphate Commission, has arrived in Auckland on a business visit to the Dominion. He will remain about a fortnight. Mr. 1). J. .McGowan, managing director’ of McGowan and Magee, Ltd., will leave Wellington this morning for Taranaki. He will be away for about a week.

Messrs. H. Speight, A. S. Duncan, A. Louissou and Adam, of New Zealand Breweries, Ltd., arrived at V.’ellington from the south yesterday morning, and left again at night. Mr. H. C. McCoy, Auckland, also spent yesterday in Wellington. Mr. W. T. Ikin. manager for New Zealand of the A.ALP. Society, will leave to-night on a business trip to Auckland and Hamilton, and will be absent from Wellington for a few days.

Mr. AL F. Kline, publicity manager of the Osaka Shosen Kaisha and editorcompiler of the company's "Guide for Shippers and Travellers," arrived at Auckland by the Mouowai, and intends to spend about a fortnight in the Dominion.

Mr. C. J. Talbot, of Fairlie, ;i member of the Levels County Council, and chairman of the New Zealand Counties' Association conference, is visiting Wellington to attend a meeting of the executive of the association.

Mr. Thomas : Lawson, of . Christchurch. is visiting Wellington on behalf of Derry’s Alilitary Band. Recently he conducted canvassing work on behalf of the hand in Westland . and Nelson. Lie intends to return to Christchurch 'in n week’s time.

Commander A. 11. Alaxwell-H. ep, who was in command of H.M.S..Laburnum on the New Zealand station in 1933-35, has taken up the new post of maintenance commander on the staff of Rear-Admiral R. 11. T. Rnikes, C.V.0.. D. 5.0.. whose flag flies on the repairship Resource in the Mediterranean Fleet.
