The final round this season for tbe Association Ferns was played at Lyall Bay, when the holders. Alesilames Rudkin and Liddoll, were again successful. This was the eleventh cliaTlengf* that the Lyall Bay players had successfully defended.

Neither side was playing up Iu form, and many short roquets were missed. The game.was very even througheut, with ouly a few points difference between the players at any time. No breaks I were made, mid the game was a long one, while tbe long shouting of all players was lery good, the game ended Ju lavour ol Waimarie, 26-22. Miss Bates (AVellington > was the referee. The next, on Ihe list, of challenger.*, is Karori, wliieh completes the round lor this season. This match is arranged to take place at AVaunarie on Monday next, starting at, 1.30. Mesdmnes Kearney mid Howell n ill represent Karori club. King Broo'-hes. Owing to tin* unsatisfactory state of the Hutt lawn, the match for the King Brooches was played on the Waimarie club lawns on Monday, when Mesdaines Wright aud Corbett defeated the holders, Mesdmnes Hollard and Stonebouse (Hutt). The Hutt players found the Waimarie lav ns with their lovely thick sward of grass very heavy after playing on tlie keen surface of the bowling green, consequently no breaks were made. The final score in favour of the AVaimaric players was 26-20. Now Plymouth Tournanient.

Good progress has been made with the New Plymouth tournament. Tbe weather on the whole has been fine, but cold, and the lawus have been in perfect condition. Tlie surprise "f the tournament was tbe defeat of tbe 1936 New Zealand women's champion. Airs. AA’. E. Caldow, by Airs. Ale Kay, Ifawera. wbo won a three-game rubber. Mrs. Caldow was also defeated in the first life of tbe women's championship by Mrs. Skret, New Plymouth. Players who have played exceedingly well all through the tournament are Airs. I.eadbeater, AVeilington, Mrs. AVilliams, Marton, aud Miss Thomas, New Plymouth. Personals. Airs. Rolfe i Kelburn i. who lias been on a visit to Queensland for tbe past six weeks, has returned home. Mrs. Gosden (Ngaio) is spending a month in Anekland and Rotorua.
