MONS VETERAN’S SUICIDE

Distressed by Thought of Another War London, March 17. A pathetic result of tbe prevalent war talk has been tbe suicide of a Mons veteran, Charles Pearce, whose leg was amputated as a result of war wounds in 1916. He ..ept a small store in London. Tbe reoccupation of tbe Rhineland distressed him, and he hanged himself, leaving a note, “Can’t bear tbe pain of another war.”

His wife stated that war talk upset him. He felt that all the sufferings of himself and others had been in vain.
