Wanganui Hospital Matron Resigns Dominion Special Service. Wanganui, March IS. The resignation of the matron, Miss E. Myles, after 24 years’ service wa« accepted* with deep regret at the monthly meeting of the Wanganui Hospital Board today. The chairman, Mr. W. E. Broderick, mid other members paid her tributes, the former saying she had been a wonderful matron mid it was largely due Io her efforts. thul the hospital was held up by tbe Health Department as n pattern for other hospitals in the Dominion. It was decided to place on record the board's appreciation of Mies Myles’s services aud to grant her sis months’ leave of absence on full pay. Miss; M. J. Hunter, assistant matron, was appointed to till the vacancy. On the recommendation of the house committee the salary of Hie medical uuperintcndeiit woo increased to £lOOO per annum.
Approved by I lie Health Department, plans for the new building programme and estimates were laid before the members. The approximate total cost of the erection of two new theatres, out-patients' block, bacteriological department, dispensary and 24-bcd and six-bed wards was stated to be £23,000.
