In his statement following a general discussion on the, proposals, the engineer, Mr. C. R. Mabsoit stated that the total cost wou’ld be £8220 and the annual ebarge spread over a period of 22 years would be £535 per annum, involving a rate of .IG7d. in tbe pound. Referring Io tbe second scheme, Mr. Mabsou said it would cost about £19,000. assuming they would get. a subsidy for a third of the cost and the balance was shared equally between the county and the borough. The latter's share would be £6826 and the annual charge thereon £4BO a year. Tn tbe event <>f receiving no subsidy and the borough having to find tbe whole cost, tlie annual charges would lie £1440, involving a rate of .15d. in the pound. It was decided definitely to adopt tlie engineer’s original scheme aud to advi.-e the county, at tbe same time intimating that Hie borough would like to diseusS further the matter with the county council.
