RONGOTAI COLLEGE

Parents’ Association Meets Reference to Hie successful financial year wliicli tlie Rongotai College Parents’ Association had exix'i'ieneed was made at the annual meeting of the association last night by Hie president, Captain W. R. Burge. He made special reference to Hie work of the gala committee, which, he said, deserved the thanks of the association for the great success it had made of its task. The net profit from tlie gala was £261. During the year tlie association had raised £316. and the ladies’ auxiliary £lO7, making a total of £423 devoted to school purposes. The executive at tlie invitation of the principal, Mr. F. Martyn Renner, had paid its annual visit to the school, and had been gratified to see the results being obtained. A tribute of thanks and appreciation was paid by the principal to Captain Burge and Mrs. IL Pettit, the retiring presidents of the parents’ association and the ladies’ auxiliary respectively. Both officers had set a high standard of service and work for the school during the time when the school was faced with heavy financial com mitments, and was passing through much the same sort of period as was affecting most individuals, lie said. Largely owing to their efforts and example the happy relations between the school and the two parents’ organisations had been strengthened, with the result that there was no school in New Zealand that could be more justifiably proud than Rongotai College was of its parents’ association and its ladies’ auxiliary. Motions of thanks to »the ladies’ auxiliary for its co-operation with the association, to the principal and-staff and to the members of the executive who had not sought re-election were carried. Parents were reminded that the principal invited them to discuss with him any matter affecting the welfare of their children educationally dr otherwise. , The following officers were elected: President, Mr. L. Brown; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. D. W. McLennan and Cozens; secretary and treasurer, Mr. G. A. Bell; committee. Mesdamts Boyle, Brownian, McKane-YYallace, Heron, Cundy, Leith, Wray, Keir, H Q. Bruce and G. A. Bell (the two lastnamed are ex officio representatives of the ladies’ auxiliary), Messrs. Smith, Collins, Tomlinson, McKane-Wallace, Leith and Morton; hon. auditor, Mr. W. O. Bock.
