PARAMOUNT have added extra tai- -*■ ent to their already big “Big Broadcast of 1935.” Latest to be signed for a specialty number is the eight-year-old Ruth Slenczynski, piano prodigy, who will record three Chopin etudes for inclusion in the production. Also just signed are four well-known radio trios: the Rhytbmettes, the Three Shades of Blue, the Three Tones, and the Ingenues. They will accompany Lyda Roberti in her song, "Double Trouble.” Paramount’s specialty roster already includes Bing Crosby. Ray Noble’s band. Bill Robinson, the Vienna Boys’ Choir. Richard Tauber, Carlos Gardel, Jessica Dragonette. Amos and Andy, Willy West and McGinty. Ina Rav Hutton and Band, the Nicholas Brothers. Ethel Merman. Ruggles and Boland, and a skit featuring Sir Guy Standing, Virginia Weidler. and others. Norman Taurog is directing, with Jack Oakie, George Burns and Gracie Allen and Lyda Roberti featured in the cast.
JT'VERY player in Columbia's "Eight Bells,” featuring Ralph Bellamy. Ann Sothern and John Buckler, had to demonstrate to Director Roy Neill that he or she could swim—and swim well, before they were granted a role in this deep sea picture.
