Value of the Turret-top Body
Greater strength, durability, and safety are provided in the new Chevrolet Master De Luxe bodies. The framework consists of wood braced by steel, around which are closely fitted and welded five panels, each a single stamping of seamless steel. There are two side panels, and one each for the cowl, the rear, and the roof. The fioni structure of each body frame, to which the cowl panel is welded, consists of an inner cowl, instrument panel, the front pillars, and the windshield header panel, strongly braced, and welded to form a unit.
The stamping which forms the seamless steel roof extends from the top if the windshield opening well down to the rear to include the entire rear window opening, and over the sides to include the drip moulding. Il D reinforced with bows of heavy gauge metal flanged and grooved, and anchored at (he sides to the strong framework of hard wood. The sedans have four of these bows, and the coupes three. The underbody floor is a single steel stamping curved and ribbed, extending from the front end. which is bent upward to form the toe-board, to the extreme rear. The entire roof and all large panels are insulated by padding of deadener felt, cemented in place, as protection against heat, cold, and sound. This feature, together with nodraught ventilation and knee-action, constitutes the three main features of the 1935 Chevrolet Master De Luxe. Knee-action has been modified to increase the efficiency and improve the ride control. 1
