Catholic Seamen’s Institute

One of the brightest social evenings ever organised by the ladies’ auxiliary of the Catholic Seamen’s Committee, with the co-operation of the Children of Alary from the various sodalities, was held recently at the A.M.I.C. rooms, 22 Vivian Street, to entertain the men of the Hertford aud Cambridge. The evening passed all too quickly with a variety of items, interspersed with dancing. Aliss Kathleen Peters sang her -well-chosen songs to an appreciative audience and, in company with Miss Alary Peters and Air. Edward Harvey, gave further pleasure in a very well-balanced trio. Aliss Alonica Bell created a very happy atmosphere with her humorous recitations, and Misses Pat Afean and Betty Painter were equally popular with their tap-dancing. Air. Pat Bell was a capable pianist, and also provided music for the community singing. Alessrs. O’Dell and Burns, both of the Hertford, created a lasting impression with their songs; the latter also gave an exhibition of step-dancing which was enthusiastically applauded. Air. Loader, of the Cambridge, gave a very tuneful mouth-organ solo. The supper committee provided an excellent supper. The Rev. Father Fletcher was among those present. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” brought a very happy evening to a close.
