LAKE OUTLET

Proposal to River Board Dominion Special Service. Featherston, July 24. Stressing the urgency of the matterMr M. Bouzaid. of Greytown, wrote to a meeting of the South Wairarapa River Board concerning his previous proposal for keeping the outlet to Lake Wairarapa open and thus allowing a good flow of water. Mr. Bouzaid stated that he bad inspected the lake mouth recently and was of the opinion that the next aeavy sea would cause a blockage which would take a tremendous amount of clearing. The writer said that he would be prepared to take on the work of keeping the lake open for a trial period of 12 months if he were given the option of a further five years on the same terms should hie scheme prove successful. According to advice received from a member of he board to-day. it has been decided to do nothing in the matter in the meantime, unless Mr. Bouzaid is prepared to lodge a bond with the board.
