GUARANTEE OF £lO.OOO TO BE PROVIDED By Telegraph.—Press Assu.—Copyright. (Received July 23. 8.15 p.m.) Sydney, July 23. Th New South Wales Government to-day agreed to provide a guarantee of £lO,OOO for the British Empire Games to be held at Sydney in January, 1935. coinciding with the 150th anniversary of the State. It is proposed to include in the programme track and field events, swimming ami diving, cycling, boxing, wrestling, bowls, and sculling. For the time being the question of women’s sports has been shelved. TO BE INVITED Duke and Duchess of Kent i lieeeived July 23. 11.35 p.m. i Sydney, July 23. The Slate Cabinet, to-day discussed preliminary details for commemorating the 150th anniversary of the State, and decided to issue tin invitation to the Duke and Duchess of Kent' to visit Australia early in 1938.
